Cruz the Coos 2015 in Downtown Coos Bay
A classic Coos Bay festival celebrates its 30th birthday this September 19th, when Cruz the Coos and the Shore Acres Show n’ Shine returns for its 2015 edition. Featuring more than 400 classic autos, this event at Shore Acres State Park in Charleston brings out dozens of Coos Bay residents and families who all share a passion for cars of the golden age. Sponsored by Sunset Classic Chevys, the day’s events are some of the most popular under the banner of the 2015 Bay Area Fun Festival, which also includes the Steve Prefontaine Memorial Run, a parade, and live music.
Show up at Shore Acres shortly after sunrise on September 19 if you want to experience the Show’n’Shine portion of the day – the best way to find parking and be sure to get there in time for judging. Shore Acres Show ‘n’Shine participants check in from 9 to 11 a.m., when judging begins. While the judges deliberate, kids can enjoy their own games, and adults can browse, talk cars, and relax. Prizes are given from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., trophies are presented at 2 p.m., and everyone sticks around until 3 p.m.
Once the accolades have wrapped up, it is on to the second part of the day. Taking off at 6 p.m., the “Cruz” makes its way throughout downtown Coos Bay for two hours. It all concludes with a second trophy ceremony and handing out of dash plaques for all the dazzling participants.
Red Lion Hotel Coos Bay sits close to Cruz the Coos and the Show’n’Shine, allowing for an easy trip to and from the events, as well as access to other events of the Bay Area Fun Festival. Visit during the weekend of September 19-20, and enjoy the best of the area’s live entertainment, food, drink and culture.
