A Guide to Jacksonville

A trip to the Sunshine State is a must this summer season and Jacksonville should be at the very top of your list. The city offers many options for couples, families or solo travelers to enjoy – from beaches and water activities to sporting events and art museums. It’s brimming with boutique shops, quality bistros and vibrant nightlife, all with a little bit of charm and southern hospitality.

Where to Stay

Located along the St. Johns river on the South bank Jacksonville Riverwalk, Lexington Hotel & Conference Center offers beautifully designed guest rooms equipped with all the comforts of home. The location provides guests the opportunity to stroll along the board walk to the shops and restaurants. It’s a fantastic venue for special occasions and weddings – with a perfect backdrop of the sweeping city. Our hotel has even been a featured venue in Jacksonville’s Premier Bride.

What to Do

The community shines bright for their sports teams – think Jacksonville Jaguars and the most storied rivalry in college football Florida vs. Georgia – pulling out all the stops around town. Their enthusiasm and passion for sports welcomes visitors to partake in the fun. While football is king, there’s still plenty of baseball, golf, and soccer to go around.

Looking for a little retail therapy? Head over to the shops in the San Marco neighborhood. If you’re looking to find a vintage treasure, Rusted: Vintage Market is the place for you. Offering unique furniture or smaller decorative pieces, Rusted: Vintage market is open seven days a week with coffee (and occasional wine) always flowing.

Don’t just window shop, stop in to Scout & Molly’s, Dancing Elephant, and Reve.

Where to Eat

A hot breakfast spot, Maple Street Biscuit Company, is a tasty stop for a biscuit sandwich, hash or chicken and waffles. They even have salads, mac and cheese and lunch-able biscuit sandwiches for the brunch crowd.

For over 30 years, Clark’s Fish Camp has been serving the community a variety of fresh seafood options. What exactly is a Fish Camp? Back in the day, they were a getaway for men to go fishing and set up camp on-site to fish, clean and eat their catch-of-the-day. Not only does Clark’s have a delicious menu, but they also have the largest privately-owned taxidermy collection in the country. Strange but intriguing and definitely worth checking out.

BB’s Restaurant is a great location for hand-crafted cocktails and signature pizzas. When finished chowing down, head over to the dessert case – offering 16 rotating options to please your sweet tooth. Yelp reviewers rave about the excellent service and delicious entrees. A must try in the Jacksonville area!
